Thank you for using Lekhoni. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data we collect

We collect no personal data. Lekhoni is a fully offline, on-device application. All journal entries, photos, voice notes, sketches, volumes, and settings are stored exclusively on your device using Android's local Room database and internal file storage.

No account or sign-up is required.
No data is transmitted to any server operated by us or any third party.
No analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK is included in the app.

2. Device permissions

Lekhoni requests the following permissions, used solely on your device:

Camera — to take photos and attach them to journal entries.
Microphone — to record voice notes within entries.
Location (fine + coarse) — to optionally tag entries with your current location. Location data is stored only in the entry on your device and is never transmitted.
Read Media Images / Read External Storage — to pick photos from your gallery to attach to entries.
Write External Storage (Android ≤ 8) — to save exported PDFs to your Downloads folder.
Notifications — to send the optional "On This Day" daily reminder. No notification data leaves your device.
Biometric / Use Fingerprint — to lock the app using your device's screen lock. No biometric data is accessed or stored by the app.

All permissions are optional. The core journalling functionality works without granting any permission.

3. Backup & Restore

The Backup feature creates a .lekhoni file containing your journal entries in JSON format. This file is saved to your device and shared via Android's standard share sheet — you choose where it goes (Google Drive, email, local storage, etc.). We have no access to this file at any point.

4. Children's privacy

Lekhoni is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

5. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
